In the spring of 2022, the Philadelphia Police Department identified the 60 intersections in the city near where five or more homicides had occurred over the previous year. (See the Prayer Map for these locations.) We had been praying about the violence in the city for some time, but felt the need to intensify prayer at these locations where innocent blood had been spilled. Why? The following explains it well.

“Curses release the powers of evil against us. Because the devil was "a murderer from the beginning" (see John 8:44), few things can release his evil powers like the shedding of innocent blood. We know that Cain was "cursed from the ground" because he murdered his brother. The very earth itself curses man today in many regions because of the innocent blood that has been shed upon it. Therefore, many revivals and moves of God could not be released in these regions until there was repentance for the sins that had been committed in those places by previous generations.” (The Curse from the Ground, Rick Joyner, Morningstar Devotional) 

To address this, the Philadelphia Tabernacle of David undertook an initiative in June 2022 to release Isaiah 60 declarations at the 60 intersections of greatest bloodshed. Teams from ministries across the city went to their assigned locations and prayed. In the last year there has been a 21% reduction in homicides in the city. We’re believing that is the result of targeted, fervent prayer and declaration.
